We are all in this together.
Who among us would not have been homeless or hungry at a certain point in time, if it were not for someone else in our life.
Many of those who are homeless, just did not have that someone.
We are the human family. Let us work together to provide the help and support each of us needs on this journey.

There really is enough for everyone. Let's fix the distribution system.

Caring packages, blessing bags for homeless: What to put in.

This is a must read wherever you are What To Do When You Are Facing Homelessness by Adora Myers

Before going further, take a look at the initial 3-4 responses (in particular Andrew Moore and the 15 points of John Russell Burgreen's) to the QUORA question below. They can be incredibly helpful if you are facing homelessness in the near future or are already there.
QUORA: "I'm going to be homeless in 6 days. Do you have any tips?"

My Suggestions On Being Homeless
If you are facing cold weather, the first thing to worry about is socks. Have two pair. People will often worry about you not having a coat, but nobody worries about socks, and they are essential.    more

Unique project distributes donations of surplus inventory
 Shelter Resource Bank
"The S. Mark Taper Foundation Shelter Resource Bank is a unique project that distributes, free of charge, donations of surplus inventory from manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, and others to homeless service agencies throughout Los Angeles County."
"Shelter Partnership reinforces the provision of basic assistance through the immensely successful S. Mark Taper Foundation Shelter Resource Bank project. Established in 1989, the project has secured new donated goods from over 600 companies, and has distributed over $210 million worth of goods to more than 550 agencies that serve the homeless and very poor. Examples of goods are toilet paper, personal hygiene products, linens, clothing, diapers, toys, baby products, cleaning products, and so much more. By meeting immediate needs, the project enables participating agencies to focus their energy and scarce resources on case management, support services, and organizational capacity-building."

Free mobile laundry service for homeless
See the video
"Orange Sky Australia is the world’s first free mobile laundry service for people experiencing homeless – an idea founded in a Brisbane garage by two 20-year-old mates. Nic Marchesi and Lucas Patchett installed a couple of washing machines and dryers in the back of their old van, visiting parks in Brisbane to wash and dry clothes for free. With an aim to improve hygiene standards and restore dignity to people doing it tough, they stumbled on something much bigger and more significant – the power of a conversation. Now facilitated by more than 1000 volunteers, Orange Sky has expanded to 20 services across Australia and generates over six tonnes of laundry every week. Most importantly, Orange Sky volunteers have engaged in more than 100,000 hours of conversations to date, helping to dispel myths about homelessness and positively connect communities all around Australia." Finnish National Programme to reduce long-term homelessness
Finland shows example in the fight against homelessness  Sep 11, 2017
"In the past years Finland has managed to decrease homelessness, especially chronic homelessness, contrary to the general trend of increasing numbers of homeless people in many European countries. The main reason for this positive development has been the success of the Finnish National Programme to reduce long-term homelessness started in 2008."
"Recently some very important and powerful views have been stated on the importance of social housing. Leilani Farha, the UN Special Rapporteur on Affordable Housing, has called for a paradigm shift whereby housing is “once again seen as a human right rather than a commodity”. David Ireland from Building and Social Housing Foundation has highlighted social housing as “a national infrastructure like transport, energy and water”. Another encouraging sign is the City of Amsterdam setting up a target to have 40% social housing in new housing projects."
"There is a need for an ethically conscious, socially minded leadership in social housing and it is our duty to take care of the most vulnerable people."

Article introducing Homelink Just Like Airbnb
"A new web-based tool aims to help change this. Designed by Community Solutions and Palantir Technologies, a software company, this platform, called Homelink, helps cities to collect data on individual homeless clients, such as income, medical history and substance-abuse problems, and then assign a severity score (using one of several surveying methods). The results are gathered in a centralised database for each city, which participating agencies can access and update. An algorithm then matches homeless people with the services available, targeting the neediest clients with the most immediate help. "
