Mr. Venkatesh is a victim of Polio. It wasn't easy for him to pursue his studies, let alone become an engineer. He has an elder and younger sisters and was born in Panruti to poor parents. He was born as a polio affected child and the physical disability had a telling effect on him and his family. With great difficulty and under severe humiliation, he managed to complete his 5th Standard but was unable to continue his studies. On hearing about the selfless service of the DMIs and their house at Ottanthangal, his mother took him there. They received him into Marco Home (which is run for the differently abled children) and treated him kindly. He was given English Medium Education with other students and came out with flying colors in the Board Exams. What awaited him after that was simply unimaginable. He was offered a seat for an engineering course in the DMI Engineering College with as much as concessioin as possible. What he is today, is because of DMI. Hundreds of others like him have seen the light of their life through the Society of DMI.
